CHIANTI measurement tools and data
For evaluation of communication problems in mobile networks the CHIANTI project has conducted a series of measurements. The tools used for the measurements were created by members of the CHIANTI project. They were used to test bandwidth, latency and application performance over various access networks (i.e. UMTS, WiFi, WiMax etc.). Evaluation was done using (python) scripts for preprocessing and evaluation and Gnuplot for visualisation.
DP-Enhanced
An open-source reference implementation of the CHIANTI protocol DP-Enhanced as described in deliverable 2.4 has been done in Ruby. The software is written by Iaroslav Sheptykin and has been put under the GNU General Public License, version 2.0. By configuration, it can be used stand-alone and as external chain module for the FlexProxy.
Measurement Tools
Short description of the measurement tools of the CHIANTI project and a link to the source code of each tool:
- tcpx TCP bandwidth testing, can emulate simple application behavior
- udpx UDP latency and throughput testing
- rtpsend / rtpspy Simulation and evaluation of RTP traffic
- jmt Java measurement service that can be used from anywhere using a java applet in the browser (demo)
- umtsstats Logging of UMTS connection and signal quality statistics under Linux for Huawei UMTS modems
- emulatelink Emulating link characteristics in a test environment
Measurement data
The results of the CHIANTI measurement efforts are available at CHIANTI measurements, complete logs and basic evaluation data can be found in the measurements repository.
